Tour Details

Nature, culture, lakes, mountains, remote villages, old monasteries, camping. If desired this tour can also be modified into a combination of mountain biking, hiking, jeep safari and camping. Geologically and archaeologically, Spiti is a living museum. The mountains are devoid of any vegetation and erosion by wind, sun and snow over thousands of years has laid bare the rocks. The rugged and rocky mountain slopes sweep down to the riverbeds giving the landscape a moon-like appearance.
Spiti’s attractions include the Buddhist monasteries, passes, glaciers, lakes and turbulent rivers. Spiti is predominantly Buddhist area, and its comparative inaccessibility has helped preserve their culture. Spiti is a fascinating area for Buddhist art and culture. The monasteries of Spiti are rich repositories of ancient murals, thank has, woodcarvings and golden images of the Padmasambhava. The people are charming, friendly and hospitable with their own traditional dances, ballads, folk tales and legends.
